Dr. Shi has been working in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University since graduated from Beijing Medical University in 1983. Academic service includes the vice president of endocrine and metabolic branch of China Society of Geriatrics, the vice president of endocrine and metabolic branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Endocrine credits Standing Committee and thyroid professional group deputy head of Chinese Medical Association; editorial board of THYROID, Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine, Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Major academic contributions include first successfully produced Graves hyperthyroid animal model in the domestic, first induced the newborn mice immune tolerance against Graves disease in the world, first produced macaques Graves disease animal model in the world and first induced the newborn macaques immune tolerance against Graves disease in the world. The honorary rewards are as follows: Wu Jieping Medical Research Award in 1998, Chinese Physician Award in 2005, Outstanding Contribution of the Young and Middle-aged Experts of Ministry of Health 2011 - 2012, the National May 1 Labor Medal in 2013, Shaanxi Provinces Famous Teacher 2014.
From January 2009 to March 2014, he was also appointed as vice president of teaching and as Dean since March 2014 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University.
