Haixia Guan, MD and PhD, was graduated from China Medical University. Dr. Guan completed her internal medicine residency and her fellowship training in endocrinology at The First Hospital of China Medical University in Shenyang, Liaoning. She got research training for 14 months at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Currently, Dr. Guan is a Professor of Internal Medicine at China Medical University and serving as an endocrinologist in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, The First Hospital of China Medical University. She is a member of the American Endocrine Society (TES), American Thyroid Association (ATA) and Asia & Oceania Thyroid Association. She is also a member of the Youth Committee of the Chinese Society of Endocrinology, Chinese Association of Thyroid Oncology. Dr. Guan’s research interests have been the management of thyroid disorders, bone metabolic diseases, and tumor-related endocrine problems. She has had more than 70 publications including peer-reviewed articles published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and Cancer. She was actively involved in three important Chinese guidelines for management of thyroid diseases. She translated books Thyroid Cancer-A Guide for Patients and Graves Disease into Chinese. In view of her achievements, she was the recipient of the Excellent Young Investigator Award from Fok Ying Dong Education Foundation and Ministry of Education, China.
