Dr. Xu is one of the most famous experts in the field of head and neck oncology in China. He is now a senior consultant and the Chief of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, National Cancer Center / Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) Cancer Hospital. He is the vice Dean of the Office of Surgical Affairs of PUMC. He is the vice president of the Ethics Committee of the hospital.
He graduated from Beijing Medical University in 1982 and then started his career at the Cancer Hospital. He is the president-elect of the Chinese Thyroid Association, the vice chair of the Thyroid Disease Branch of the Chinese Research Hospital Association, senior consultant of the Chinese Thyroid Society, committee member of the Surgical Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He also has many titles in academic groups of head and neck oncology.
He published many papers on clinical researches of thyroid and other head and neck cancers. He has led several ministerial level researches and many other. He was the deputy editors of several academic books.
